The TDLA Executive Committee
Monique is a Senior Crown Prosecutor employed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. She has held the position of Treasurer since 2019 and has previous served as an ordinary committee member in 2018 and 2017. Monique volunteers her time to the TDLA to contribute and promote collegiality within the local legal profession.
Julie Kefford was born and raised in Mount Isa, is a mother to three children and Criminal Lawyer at Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Service in Townsville. Julie is passionate about Indigenous Legal Issues and the delivery of culturally competent and culturally sensitive Legal advice and Advocacy. Julie has spent the last seven years working at Indigenous Specific Community Legal Centers in Family Law, Child Protection, Domestic Violence and Criminal Law and has circuited to communities and courts across the Mount Isa, Gulf and Townsville regions including Palm Island, Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Bowen, Cloncurry, Tully and everywhere in between. This is Julie’s first year on the TDLA committee. Julie has taken up the position of Secretary with TDLA to contribute to the North Queensland Legal Community that has supported her and to assist TDLA in its promotion of the reputation and interests of the Regional Practitioners of North Queensland.
